A new skill and a couple more cards

Today I have learned how to make and bind a book. Not only that but I managed to cover it in beautiful material and even got some beading into it through an aperture, which was the most challenging part of the whole project. It’s an A3 size book signed by the whole school (or near enough) for Helen’s retirement and has been yet another labour of love. I’ve lost track of the hours but I’m always pleased to acquire new skills.

Below the photos of the book are a couple of cards I made for Nan-nan and Mum for their birthdays this month.

A couple of special leaving cards

It’s that time of year again, teachers are preparing to move on from Woodford and I’ll be very sorry to see them go. Helen Cleland has been our head teacher for 19 years and I’m sure that she has a long and happy retirement ahead of her. Heather has been my colleague in the Maths department for the full five years that I have been there and I’m going to miss her so much. Here are the cards that I have made for them both…

Helen’s took eight hours and Heather’s quilled flowers took me five. It’s definitely a labour of love….
