Handmade PE bag

It's the first day of school, you're suddenly restricted in your choice of clothes, your book bag has been accessorised with a cat keyring from your summer holiday but it's still basically the same as the other 59 book bags that enter the building along with yours for the first time today. You like to be a little different and you definitely like everyone to know how much you love cats so what you really need is for your Mum, who is trying to come to terms with her little girl starting school today, to have made you a very special, very catty PE bag. Well, Jessica, you're in luck. I mastered eyelets and rustled up this fabulous bag just for you!

This was a really simple sew that took well under an hour and Jessica was thrilled!

Bag for Gran

For Gran's birthday this year, Jessica decided she wanted to paint a bag for her. We used a calico bag from Hobbycraft  and watered down acrylic paints. It's always good to paint on something other than paper! The technique has worked well for us and I like how bold the colours stay. Jessica really enjoyed doing this one.

Cow Bag!

Here’s the bag as promised yesterday. It’s about 45cm by 30cm from memory, so quite large. I used one of my bags as a guide so that it didn’t look too weirdly proportioned. I really hoped that I was on safe grounds with this present because Sarah does love a funky bag and animal prints. I fully lined the bag with some upcycled sheets and as you can see, I placed a red popper at the top to keep the bag closed. I effectively created two identical bags from the two fabrics then attached the handles to the outside of the lining before sewing the two pieces together. The letters used the same template and technique as on the cushion. I am really pleased with how this one turned out.
